Why old CSGO skins still have value
The transition kept every CSGO drop in circulation, including discontinued ones. Items from removed cases (CS:GO Weapon Case, eSports 2013, Operation Bravo, Vanguard) keep climbing because supply was frozen the day Valve retired them. If your inventory contains pre-2017 drops, they are worth a closer look.
Items that gained the most after the CS2 update
Souvenir AWP Dragon Lores, M4A4 Howl, Karambit Case Hardened blue gems, and the Katowice 2014 holos / paper sticker collection saw the biggest post-CS2 appreciation. The Howl in particular is a Contraband item — Valve will never let it drop again, and that scarcity is permanent.
How CSGO float values translate to CS2
Float values transferred 1:1. A 0.001 float Factory New AK-47 Vulcan from CSGO is the same item with the same float in CS2. The wear category (FN, MW, FT, WW, BS) is calculated from the float and is identical across both games.
